The body consists of many layers, all wrapped by fascia. These layers start at the most superficial, the skin, and go deeper, where we find the organs. Each organ has an inherent movement that a trained practitioner can detect and influence. Working on the viscera (liver, kidneys, lungs, heart, for example) can release external pains that may be coming from this deep level. Healthy, properly moving viscera is reflected in the external body.
Just as the other layers of the body (fascia, muscle, connective tissue, etc.) need to be free from restrictions for the body to move comfortably, the visceral system also needs to be free to function efficiently. Through a deep-reaching, firm but light touch, the organs are assessed and treated, similar to unwinding fascia but at a much deeper level, the level of the viscera.
